Hi ! I have very hyperflexible elbows and wonder if I am aligning my elbows correctly for handstands. In your video you teach to turn the elbow bones facing out and with the elbow pits facing in. Atleast that is how I understood it. When I do this my shoulders rotate internally in their sockets. When I watch others , there shoulders seem to not do this. Should I not allow my shoulders to internally rotate and try to rotate my elbows separate from my shoulders? Ugh! this sounds confusing so hopefully I am making sense. The reason why I am concerned is that I thought it was ideal to externally rotate the shoulders when working on flexiibility with the shoulders. I know handstands are not necesssarily a flexibility pose so maybe it makes sense that you dont want them to open? haha! You can see my confusion here. I might be overthinking this. :)
Never too much overthinking possible in the CONTORTURE™ Chamber! It is a bit confusing but if I "get it " right...when working with other hyperflexible elbow students I try to have them work it just the way explained in the video. I know its hard hard hard but the key is to build the strength/support under/to control your flexibility. There is external rotation in the shoulders when contorting and going into deep backbends but for the "structural support" especially in straight elbow stands and handstands you want to rotate inwards like keeping a 100dollar bill in your armpits :) If you like we can arrange a Skype session but hopefully that can help!
